Sam “SV” Verzosa: Honors Sampaloc Hometown with Outreach Activities

The recent “Araw ng Kalayaan” proved to be an auspicious day for Sam “SV” Verzosa as he paid homage to his roots through a series of outreach initiatives for the people of Sampaloc where he grew up.

As the host of the public service program ‘Dear SV’, he donated 17 brand new multi-purpose “Serbisyo Vans,” to the 17 zones of Sampaloc.  These vans will be instrumental in transporting people during emergencies and will also be utilized in facilitating civic work.

SV, known for his philanthropic works even before he took a seat in Congress, also donated SV Mobile Clinics equipped with x-ray, ECG, and ultrasound machines and laboratory testing equipment.  These mobile clinics will be utilized for carrying out general check-ups and medical consultations.  During the activity, SV personally gave a tour of the mobile clinics and mobile pharmacy, demonstrating to guests the operational capabilities of the vehicles and how they can help enhance the delivery of healthcare in Manila.

Aside from the “Free Maintenance Medicine Program” medical mission, Sam Verzosa also distributed wheelchairs to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs), further cementing his dedication to uplifting the lives of his co-Manilenyos.  Actress Rhian Ramos showed her support for the program and assisted in the distribution of medicines.

“Growing up, I was faced with the realization that we had limited means.  Being in that situation taught me how to be humble and to have a spirit of sharing even when you have less,” SV shared.

“I believe in the adage that if you work hard, your efforts will be rewarded.  The road to elevating our family’s way of life was not easy and was paved with a lot of challenges yet I persevered .  Success is not just having the practical means to have your needs and wants, it is also having the freedom to help and give more to the community as well as influencing others to support advocacies such as these,” he added.

“Ngayong Araw ng Kalayaan, nais ko ring ipamalas sa mga residente ng Sampaloc na ang kalayaan na tumulong ay nasa ating lahat hindi lang sa pinansyal na aspeto, kungdi sa paglalaan din ng panahon at oras na makilahok sa mga ganitong proyekto.  Taos-puso ang aking pasasalamat sa lahat ng tumulong upang maisakatuparan ang mahalagang araw na ito,” he further shared.

Asked what makes him a true son of Sampaloc, SV shared that it is the values of camaraderie, humility, respect and never forgetting where you came from that makes him stay grounded.

Sam Verzosa may have achieved a lot already but the road he is building for others is paved with a lot of good intentions.  He will continue helping others because sharing the value of helping is inane in him.
