If you are an occasional wine drinker, I bet you will love to read on and know the health benefits of Red Wine. Or at least next time you go out for a drink, you’d rather have one than any other.

Health Benefits of Red Wine

  • Red wine has antioxidants.

Drinking it will help reduce LDL or Lipoprotein production. This LDL is also called “bad cholesterol”, and when you hear even just the word “cholesterol”, it means not good for your body. Thus Red wine works in helping increase the production of HDL or high density lipoprotein, this is what we know as “good’ cholesterol”. Now, don’t get confused coz we also need LDL, because when combined with HDL, blood clotting is prevented and also enhances the body’s overall lipid profile.
  • Red wine has phytochemicals usually found in plants. It’s also a form of antioxidant which helps reduce oxidative damages in your body.
  • Red wine promotes good cardiovascular health and facilitates normal call growth and healthy aging. It minimizes heart disease and provides protection.
  • Red wine reduces the risk of cancer. It has resveratrol which helps in lowering cancerous cells growth. It is also believed that some neurological conditions like Alzheimers and Parkinsons are being delayed or reduced.

Wine drinking is good for us but it should be in moderation. It won’t do your body any good if you keep on consuming every new wines that your wine maker friend is giving you and just because it’s free. Red wine has benefits, yes, but if you will drink more often than required, you may suffer from obesity, high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia, cholesterol and stroke. Remember that LDL and HDL will increase too.

So, the next time you ask the waiter for wine, try their best Red Wine in the house. Sip and enjoy, do not consume the whole bottle.
