Family Health and Wellness

Most of us know the saying “Health first” or “Health is Wealth”, which means that we should not sacrifice health over anything and that we cannot buy health. This goes for the entire family, from kids to adults. It’s truly hard when a family member is sick more so if the virus or bacteria spreads, affecting not just one but all.

A healthy family means a happy family, right? But sometimes, these common viruses are needed by the body, so our system can adjust and learn how to fight these bacteria, thus increasing our defense the next time it hit us.

Exercise with your iPod!

Nowadays, when you go to a gym, you won’t see any huge sound system used as music accompaniment when doing any sort of exercises. I used to go to a nearby gym and they had this boom box which played ear tearing music. That was terrible, really, and I wasn’t able to concentrate on the routines coz I kept covering my ears. It seems that the other members of the class weren’t annoyed at all, mainly coz they were young people who enjoyed loud music to the extremes.

Mom, I’m Scared of the White Monster!

“White Monster? Well, that’s just the doctor (or the nurse) checking you up, dear.”

Young children are usually scared of the doctors, more so if they are wearing their white uniforms. This goes the same with nurses, who “stick ’em up with pointy things”. My 5 year old used to be one scared boy and whenever the “white monster” approaches, he’ll scream and cry at the top of his lungs. Little tots are being subjected to trauma, without the parents noticing it.

Well, even if it’s just a regular check up, we need the doctors, right? So, how can we ease the little ones’ fear of those white uniforms?

Introduce Music To Your Kids At An Early Age

Music is all around us. Here at home, I hear it every single day. I love music more so if it’s my genre, the ’80s (now you know how old I am, lol). Love it when I hear my kids sing their fave pop songs though most of the time, my 5 year old keeps repeating the same songs over and over. Lately, he’s been tapping his cousin’s new 88 key keyboard, pretending to be a musician. On some days, we’ll see him stringing his brother’s guitar or holding the mic while singing Maroon 5’s Payphone.
